IAR/ISA Testing

The IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) Assessment will be administered to students from April 1, 2026, through April 16, 2026.  Students in grades 3 through 8 will take tests in reading and mathematics. Additionally, students in grades 5 and 8 will take the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) during the same time period. Please remember that while the testing window is open for several weeks, students will only be testing part of the time.  

All of these assessments are required by the Illinois State Board of Education and will be administered to all eligible students.  

You can help your child obtain better results on these tests by doing the following:

  1. Make sure that your child attends school and is on time on testing days;
  2. Make sure that your child rests and gets a good night’s sleep the night before the test (8-10 hours recommended);
  3. Ensure your child has breakfast on the morning of testing days;
  4. Remind your child to ask the teacher questions if he/she does not understand the instructions of the test;
  5. Tell your child not to worry about the tests and that you have confidence in their ability to do the best he/she can.

The results of these exams will demonstrate how well the Illinois State Standards have been taught. We will review these results and other local test data to improve our school programs. You will receive information regarding your child’s performance on the IAR test in the fall.

La Evaluación IAR (Evaluación de Preparación de Illinois) se administrará a los estudiantes del 1 de abril de 2026 al 16 de abril de 2026. Los estudiantes de 3º a 8º grado tomarán la evaluación de lectura y matemáticas. También, los estudiantes de 5º y 8º grado  tomarán la evaluación ISA (Evaluación de Ciencias de Illinois) durante un periodo de tiempo similar. Recuerde que, aunque el plazo para realizar las evaluaciones estará abierto durante varias semanas, los estudiantes no se evaluarán durante todo ese tiempo.  

Todas estas evaluaciones son requeridas por la Junta Educativa del Estado de Illinois y serán administradas a todos los estudiantes elegibles. 

Usted puede ayudar a su estudiante a obtener mejores resultados en estas evaluaciones haciendo lo siguiente: 

  1. Asegúrese de que su estudiante asista a clase y llegue a tiempo los días de exámenes;
  2. Asegúrese de que su hijo descanse y duerma bien la noche anterior al examen (se recomiendan entre 8 y 10 horas);
  3. Asegúrese de que su estudiante desayune la mañana de los días de exámenes;
  4. Recuerde a su estudiante que pregunte al maestro si no entiende las instrucciones de la prueba;
  5. Dígale a su estudiante que no se preocupe por los exámenes y que confíe en su capacidad para hacerlo lo mejor posible.

Los resultados de estos exámenes demostrarán lo bien que se han enseñado las Normas del Estado de Illinois. Revisaremos estos resultados y otros datos de exámenes locales para mejorar nuestros programas escolares. Usted recibirá información sobre el rendimiento de su estudiante en el examen IAR en el otoño.
