Roll & Read Family Event set for April 26 at Northwood

Families from five Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 schools are invited to get active and celebrate reading at the first Roll & Read Campus Connection event Friday, April 26 at Northwood Middle School.

Woodstock Willie, Alondra Flores (Miss Woodstock) and Mayor Brian Sager will participate in the event, which will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. There will be treats from Papa Murphy’s, Culver’s and Kona Ice along with book giveaways. Representatives from Woodstock Public Library are also helping with the event.

Families from Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center, Mary Endres Elementary School, Northwood Middle School, Woodstock North High School and families with pre-K and life skills students from Greenwood Elementary School are invited to attend.

Families are invited to circle the Northwood track and there will be story readings between laps.

“It’s not a race. It’s just promoting activity and literacy for our families,” said Cristina Mazzanti, a parent educator at Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center.

Roll & Read is the second Campus Connection event of the 2018-2019 school year. The first event was held outside of the Shelia Street apartments off Route 47 on Nov. 1. More than 100 families attended that event.
