WNHS scholar athlete honored by Chicago organization
Woodstock North High School senior Braeden Given was recently honored by the Positive Coaching Alliance in Chicago as a remarkable scholar athlete at the annual Impact Scholarship Awards Celebration held at the Chicago Sports Museum in November.
Braeden was one of 20 Chicago area students who received a scholarship from the Positive Coaching Alliance.
The Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarships are awarded to senior athletes based on their essays detailing how they meet the following criteria: personal mastery, leadership with teammates and honoring the game.
Representatives said there were more than 200 applications and that “Braeden’s stood out as a result of his athletic and academic accomplishments, but also showed us the extra dedication to the core principles of a Triple Impact Competitor and the mission of the Positive Coaching Alliance. Braeden Given is exactly what we look for in our scholarship recipients!”
Positive Coaching Alliance is a national organization that works to develop “Better Athletes, Better People” by partnering with youth and high school athletic programs to provide athletes with a character-building sports experience.
“We are delighted for Braeden and ask you to join us in congratulating him and wishing the best for the remainder of his senior year and on into college,” said Tai Duncan, executive director of Positive Coaching Alliance - Chicago.
