COVID-19 GUIDANCE FOR District 200 SCHOOLS

Health Protocols

  • If your child is sick with symptoms of COVID-19 or any other type of illness, your child should remain at home until 24 hours has passed since presenting symptoms such as: fever (without fever reducing medication), diarrhea or vomiting.

If your child has symptoms of COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19, we will use the information contained in this chart to determine your child’s return date to school. Staying home with any illness or symptoms of illness is the first and most important step in keeping all of our students and staff healthy this school year.

The CDC recommends masking during periods of high transmission of COVID-19. You can refer to the CDC COVID-19 community levels to determine our county’s current transmission level.  Masks continue to be available for students and staff members in the health office for the 2022-23 school year.  Masking remains optional for our students and staff.

Other steps D200 is taking to keep our schools healthy this year include:

    • Requiring a self-screening questionnaire for all visitors.
    • Continuing our procedures of opening windows for air quality and air movement on all school buses.
    • Continued emphasis on hand washing and other hygiene measures.
    • Continuing to increase fresh air circulation in the classrooms and constantly increasing air quality.
    • Continued increased cleaning of high-touch areas in our cafeterias and bathrooms.

District 200 will continue to work with the McHenry County Health Department on potential outbreaks and take additional mitigation steps if needed according to their guidance.
