Dear District 200 Families:

We hope you had a wonderful summer. We wanted to share with you that decisions have been made regarding COVID-19 mitigation measures for the start of the school year on Aug. 16.

Governor Pritzker has mandated masks for all students, staff and visitors in all public schools in Illinois.  This mandate is regardless of vaccination status.  This follows the Board of Education approving universal masking at an August 3 meeting.  The universal masking follows the recommendations of the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health, The Illinois State Board of Education, and our local health department.  

Attached to this message is our Return to School Plan and our updated Student Health Protocol.  Please see these documents for details on the numerous mitigation strategies in our buildings and school buses.  You will receive a separate email asking eligible families if they will be using our bus service this school year. 

What’s most important to us is returning our children to daily in-person instruction at our schools.  This is the best environment for learning.  We believe our mitigations will provide our students with a healthy and safe environment that allows them to remain in school all year long. 

Quarantines are a result of local health department policy.  We believe our mitigations will limit the close contact quarantines in school.  If a student is placed in quarantine, we will work with the student and family to ensure that their education continues virtually while in quarantine. 

Like all of you, we look forward to a day when mitigation is no longer required nor needed. In the meantime, we remain committed to providing the best possible education and support for our children.

Esperamos que haya tenido un verano estupendo. Queremos compartir con ustedes que se han tomado decisiones con respecto a las medidas de mitigación de COVID-19 para el inicio del año escolar el 16 de agosto.

El Gobernador Pritzker ha ordenado el uso de cubrebocas para todos los estudiantes, el personal, y los visitantes en todas las escuelas públicas de Illinois. Este mandato es independiente del estado de vacunación.  Eso sigue a que la Junta Educativa aprobó el uso de cubrebocas universal en la reunión del 3 de agosto. El uso de cubrebocas universal sigue las recomendaciones de la CDC, el Departamento de Salud Pública de Illinois, la Junta Educativa del Estado de Illinois y nuestro departamento de salud local.

Adjunto a este mensaje está nuestro plan de regreso a clases y nuestra actualización de salud estudiantil. Por favor consulte estos documentos para obtener detalles sobre las numerosas estrategias de mitigación en nuestros edificios y autobuses escolares. Las familias que son elegibles para transporte escolar recibirán un correo electrónico aparte preguntando si usarán nuestro servicio de transporte este año escolar.

Lo que es más importante para nosotros es regresar a nuestros estudiantes a una instrucción diaria presencial en nuestras escuelas. Este es el mejor entorno para aprender. Creemos que nuestras mitigaciones proporcionarán a nuestros estudiantes un ambiente saludable y seguro que les permitirá permanecer en la escuela durante todo el año.

Las cuarentenas son el resultado de la política del departamento de salud local. Creemos que nuestras mitigaciones limitaran las cuarentenas del contacto cercano en la escuela. Si un estudiante es puesto en cuarentena, trabajaremos con el estudiante y su familia para asegurar que su educación continúe virtualmente mientras está en cuarentena.

Al igual que todos ustedes, esperamos el día que la mitigación ya no sea requerida ni necesaria. Por el momento, seguimos comprometidos a brindar la mejor educación y apoyo posibles para nuestros niños.
