Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

  • Advanced Placement (AP) courses are rigorous, college-level courses aligned with skills and experiences, culminating in an annual examination process developed by the College Board. District 200 offers more than 30 Advanced Placement courses.

Students can benefit by enrolling in AP courses.  These courses provide students with college-level instruction, opportunities to earn college credit, reduce college costs, and shorten the time needed to earn a degree.

AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. Colleges use these scores to award college credit and/or advanced course options.  Community colleges and public universities in Illinois guarantee credit for scores of 3 or higher.  Every college and university outside Illinois awards credit differently based on each AP score.  The AP Credit Policy Search will provide additional information on how credit is awarded at colleges and universities throughout the United States.

The D200 AP Coordinators are available to help. Do not hesitate to reach out to them with any questions or concerns.
