WNHS e-Learning

  • As we embark on this e-learning  journey, we wanted to share some expectations to help everyone understand how our high school staff will ensure that your learning continues.  

    Here is how eLearning will work: 

    • Teachers will share lesson plans with their students through the Canvas learning management system, email, or other platforms that teachers use. Assignments will be meaningfully connected to the course curriculum and should be able to be completed within approximately 30-40 minutes.
    • Teachers will let students know what they must do to show evidence that they completed the lesson and demonstrated learning on  the objective.
    • Teachers will be available by email or conferencing between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm.  Emails received during this time will be responded to in a timely manner.
    • Students will be assessed based on their participation in the lesson and completion of the assignment(s). 
    • As the district’s letter indicates, we will be running on a block schedule so students can focus on a limited number of classes each day. This allows for more teacher-directed lessons and allows teachers to also be more available to answer questions to support students through the learning process. 

    During this time, we strongly encourage students to be checking their email and logging into Canvas each day for their specific courses.The daily schedule is also listed below for your convenience. 

    We understand that each and every one of you is dealing with different circumstances and situations during this time. We want to reach out and let you know that we are here to support you. Our goal is  to provide lessons that help prepare your student for the next level and allow them to continue to grow as a learner.

    Additional High School Information

    AP Tests

    The College Board announced that AP exams will be replaced by 45-minute online exams for most courses. Online review courses and tutorials are available at Updates for AP Students Affected by Coronavirus (COVID-19). Additional information and updates on AP Tests will be shared once they are made available by the College Board.

    April 14 School-Day SAT Test, PSAT 10, PSAT 9, and ISA

    The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has approved ISBE’s application to waive all federally required assessments. This means that the SAT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 9 scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 have been canceled. ISBE is working with the College Board on developing options to allow current 11th grade students to take the SAT in the fall. They plan to have more information on these options by the end of April.

  • Message from Superintendent Moan - April 2, 2020

    Dear District 200 High School Families,  

    I would like to again thank you for your support and patience during this difficult time for all of us.  As you may be aware,Governor Pritzker has extended our school closure through April 30.  

    We have continued our eLearning this week, and we are thrilled to see our teachers and students engaging with each other and the continuation of a quality education. We will continue developing our eLearning plans in the coming weeks, and we appreciate the efforts from our students and our parents to stay active in their education. 

     At this point, the State of Illinois has cancelled all state assessments for this year.  The State is working to arrange an SAT test in the fall for all current high school juniors.  AP tests are scheduled to be given online this year, please contact the school with any questions.  

    Below is our grading plan for high school students during our eLearning. We agree with the Illinois State Board of Education’s philosophy that no child should be harmed because of this global pandemic. With that in mind, we have formulated the most compassionate and equitable grading system possible. The system is also structured so that students still have educational goals to reach. 

    No student grade will be recorded as lower than the grade student had on March 13. Students will have the opportunity to raise their grades. Students who participate in eLearning will receive a P for passing during this time. Any student who does not participate in eLearning will receive an I for incomplete and at the end of the semester will have eight weeks to complete the work for a passing grade.   

    Again, students who pass the eLearning portion of the year will at least maintain the grades they had prior to school closure and that will be their grades at the end of the semester. Please contact the school or my office if you have any questions.   

    Grading System for 9th - 12th Grade Students

    Woodstock CUSD 200 will be following the guidelines put forth by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) on grading and assessment. This means that all students’ letter grades as of March 13 will remain intact. During the period of eLearning, all students will receive grades of Passing (P) or Incomplete (I) for all coursework and assessments. A student’s second-semester grade will not be lower than their March 13 grade.  Students will receive an Incomplete (I) if they don’t participate in eLearning. Student’s current grades can be maintained or improved, but cannot decrease. 

    • All students are expected to participate in eLearning, which includes attending virtual classes and continuing their education with learning opportunities assigned by the teacher.  
    • Students who participate in their learning will receive a grade of (P) for each class and educational activity.  
    • Students who do not participate in online learning will receive an Incomplete (I) grade for any assignment not completed. Students who receive an Incomplete (I) will have the opportunity to work with their teacher to receive a (P) Passing grade.   
    • If a student does not satisfactorily engage with eLearning, they will be issued an Incomplete (I) for that course’s second-semester grade. They will be provided an eight-week window to take part in educational activities to change the grade to a (P) Passing grade. 

    As mentioned earlier a student’s current grade as of March 13 will be maintained or improved and does not decrease for the semester grade. 

    Extra Credit 

    In certain instances teachers may provide extra credit for completing an assignment for extra credit.   

    Missing Work/Reassessment

    If a student had missing work before March 13, they will be afforded the opportunity to make up work.  Students are allowed to redo assignments assigned prior to March 13 to improve their grade.
