Micro-Internships & Internships

District 200 Work-Based Learning Programs offer students real-world opportunities that build professional skills, inspire career exploration, and strengthen ties with business and community partners. Through our Micro-Internship or Internship programs, students can explore career pathways, apply classroom learning in real settings, and build confidence, professionalism, and connections needed for success after graduation.

These programs are offered to juniors or seniors with a 2.0 GPA or higher who have consistent attendance and good standing. Students who do not meet the  requirements may still be considered for participation at the discretion of the Internship Coordinator.

Interns in Action

26 Cobin Fay

"It's a fun opportunity to get out into the world and meet new people and see what it's like in a workplace. It helped me realize that my passions, theater, and music can lead to good careers."

- Cobin Fay (Woodstock North High School)

Mazina Dominguez and Laila Arias

"I am especially excited to be working with Laila and helping guide her through hands-on experience in marketing, real estate, and creative content. She has learned how to stage a home, set up for a closing, and capture videos and photos to turn into content."

- Mazina Dominguez

Ellie

"Ellie worked in all departments to learn the various aspects of working in a public library, including Circulation, Reference, Youth Services, and more. Library staff were fortunate to have such a friendly, enthusiastic student onsite to work with the public in our day-to-day operations."

- Woodstock Public Library

Three smiling women in casual clothing stand together in what appears to be a classroom or office setting, with holiday decorations visible in the background.

"Salome completed her 10-hour Micro Internship at Animal Hospital of Woodstock. She spent time learning what goes on behind the scenes at an animal hospital, meeting our patients, and seeing firsthand how our team works together to care for animals every day. We loved having her with us and sharing a little bit of the veterinary world!"

- Animal Hospital of Woodstock

Micro-Internship

"We are proud to support programs that give students a firsthand look at public service and the legal profession. During their time with our office, students had the opportunity to learn more about the criminal justice system, observe the work that goes into prosecuting cases, and meet the dedicated professionals who serve our community every day. From discussions about courtroom procedures to exploring different career paths in law and public service, it was an engaging and educational experience for everyone involved."

- McHenry County State's Attorney's Office
