Dual Degree Program with McHenry County College

The Dual Degree Program is an early college program created through a collaborative partnership between McHenry County College (MCC) and Woodstock Community Unit School District 200. The program provides academically motivated students enrolled in District 200 an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and an Associate degree simultaneously. During their four years of school, students will take a combination of Dual Credit courses offered through District 200 at each high school and MCC courses offered at the McHenry County College campus.

Students apply and are selected for this program during the 1st semester of 9th grade.

2026 Information

A Dual Degree information night will be held on October 15 for parents of freshmen students interested in pursuing an associate’s degree while attending Woodstock or Woodstock North High Schools. It will be hosted both virtual and in-person in English and Spanish. Parents and students are encouraged to attend.

Student Application Process (Class of 2030)

The ideal candidate for the Dual Degree Program is a student who has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to their academics. In order to qualify for some of the coursework, students will need to take placement tests in English and math. Due to the nature of those placement tests, it is recommended that students be enrolled in Geometry, or show a strong proficiency in Algebra I, during their Freshman year. For questions about whether or not this is a good fit, students and families are encouraged to meet with their high school counselor.

The application window will be open from 8:00 pm October 15 until 10:00 pm November 11, 2026.

Step 1: Attend Informational meeting on Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 pm in Woodstock North High School Room 146. Links to the presentation will be posted later that week.
Step 2: Complete required forms.
A completed application will include the following documents. All must be submitted for an application to be considered complete.

In MyMCC → Self Services → Student Planning → Plan your Degree & Register for Classes → Go to Plan & Schedule (make sure to change the setting to "summer")
On MCC's Canvas page - a few days before class
Be sure to look at the link to the Bookstore or your syllabus to find out what books to purchase before class begins.

You can identify the classes you have taken for the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree.

Remember, you can access your Plan of Study and MCC Credit Evaluation. You may want to reference (search for Plan of Study in your Google Drive) as well as MCC's AP Credit Policy and the D200 Curriculum Guide to see how our Dual Credit classes match with MCC classes.

Send your AP test scores to MCC. You can see if you have completed this by going into your AP Classroom and selecting MCC for your free AP score submission.

Also, if you are taking a summer course through MCC, it should be visible in your MCC account by May 1, so you can double-check the dates and times. If you are taking a D200 summer course, the information will be in the D200 Summer School brochure in January 2026.

Payment is made through the student's MCC portal.

There is a $25 Dual Credit MCC fee for each Dual Credit class payable to MCC.
Any MCC class (not Dual Credit) also must be paid through the student's MCC portal.
Please wait until the end of the class to pay this fee. This will ensure that District 200 has paid their portion and the student's fee has been adjusted.
