Dual Credit Enrollment Procedures
MCC's Dual Credit program provides eligible students still in high school with the opportunity to enroll in college credit courses. A student may enroll in college classes to earn both college and high school credit, described as dual credit. Another option is to enroll in college classes and earn only college credit, described as dual enrollment. All college courses and final grades are included on the student's permanent college transcript.
College in the High School
High school students typically choose their College in the High School dual credit class(es) during their high school's course selection process for the upcoming school year. Students should follow the enrollment process set up by their high school. Once high school schedules are finalized, students will formally register to earn MCC college credit via DualEnroll within the first 30-calendar days at the beginning of each semester. Students have 30-calendar days from the start of class to drop the MCC course without transcript or billing implications.
Running Start and PCCS
The first step in the enrollment process is to meet with a high school counselor and complete an application and registration via the Dual Credit Registration Form. Please note that students under age 15 and under must contact the College and Career Readiness office for additional permission.

Dropping A Class
Students may drop a class without it being recorded on their transcript during the first two weeks of a class longer than nine weeks, or during the first week of class nine weeks or shorter. Dropping a class can be done online, in person by visiting the Registration Office, or sending an e-mail to McHenry County College. The communication sent by email should include the student's name, course subject, number, section, reason for dropping, and student signature.
Students enrolled in dual credit programs at MCC (Dual Degree, Partnership for College and Career Success, and Running Start) may drop a class without it being recorded on their transcript during the first two week of a class longer than nine weeks or during the first week of a class nine weeks or shorter. Dual credit students enrolled in the College in the High School program may drop a class without it being recorded on their transcript during the first 30 calendar days of class. Students, or high school counselors on behalf of students, may submit the request to drop a course. Email McHenry County College with student name, birthday, and the course to be dropped.
