Assessment Information

KIDS is an observational tool that provides teachers, administrators, families, and policymakers with valuable insight into the developmental readiness of children starting kindergarten.

Grade Level: Kindergarten

The Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State (ACCESS) for English Language Learners (ELL) student assessment is administered to students who are classified as English Learners (ELs). This is an English language proficiency assessment that measures a student's proficiency in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

Grades Level: K - 12th

IAR is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. IAR assesses the Illinois Learning Standards, incorporating the Common Core, and will be administered in English language arts and mathematics.

Grade Level: 3rd - 8th

The DLM is the required state assessment for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. As determined by the IEP, students with the most significant cognitive disabilities may take the DLM if participation in the state's regular assessments is not appropriate, even with accommodations.

Grade Level: 3rd - 11th

This is a required state assessment administered in an online format and aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

Grade Level: 5th and 8th

PreACT 9 Secure and PreACT Secure are online assessments within the ACT Suite. These tests give students early exposure to ACT test items, provide a predicted ACT score, and offer valuable feedback to support college and career readiness. Both PreACT 9 and PreACT Secure are required by the state and are administered at each student’s high school.

Grade Level: 10th (PreACT9 Secure) and 11th (PreACT Secure)

The ACT is a standardized test commonly used for college admissions. It measures a student’s readiness for college-level coursework in English, math, reading, and science, as well as their writing skills. All 11th-grade students are required to take the ACT in order to earn a regular high school diploma. The ACT is administered during the school day at each student's high school.

The ACT is a college readiness exam that measures a student’s overall academic achievement and preparedness for college-level work. The multiple-choice sections cover English, math, and reading, with optional writing and science sections. Test questions reflect material students typically study in high school courses.

While optional, the ACT or SAT is required for admission by many colleges and universities. Woodstock High School offers the ACT on select Saturday test dates.

Grade Level: Primarily college-bound 11th and 12th grade students.

Registration & Test Dates

The adaptive Digital PSAT/NMSQT assesses the reading, writing, language, and math skills essential for college and career readiness. For 11th-grade students, PSAT/NMSQT scores may qualify them for the National Merit Scholarship Program and open opportunities for college scholarships. The exam also allows students to compare their academic performance with that of other college-bound peers.

The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional exam for 11th grade students. While 10th graders are able to take the exam, only 11th graders are able to qualify through the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Grade Level: College-bound 10th and 11th grade students. 

PSAT/NMSQT Information

The SAT measures the knowledge and skills research has shown to be critical for college and career readiness. The exam consists of two main sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. All National Saturday SAT exams are administered digitally. While optional, the SAT or ACT is required for admission by many colleges and universities. 

Grade Level: 11th and 12th grade students

Registration & Test Dates  

Advanced Placement (AP) exams are available to students who have taken college-level AP courses in high school. Achieving certain scores may qualify students for advanced placement or college credit upon enrollment.

AP & Dual Credit Courses

Grade Level: 9th–12th grade students

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a broad-based career exploration tool that tests a student's aptitude in various areas. The results can help students narrow down future career interests. This is also the test that all branches of the military use to determine career placement for active military members.

Interested students can register through their SchooLinks account, under the Events tab. The ASVAB is offered during both Fall and Spring semesters.
