District 200 Learning Gap Plan
Addressing the Learning Gap
District 200 educators have developed plans to address learning gaps that have arisen for some students during the COVID-19 pandemic with strategies to help students who have struggled to maintain their academic and social-emotional growth.
Students who would benefit from some extra academic and/or social-emotional support are being identified through classroom assessments, screenings and teacher recommendations.
Teachers and staff are currently taking advantage of asynchronous learning and other strategic times to work with students in small groups or individually with focus on math and literacy skills. Resources are also being allocated to provide social-emotional support to students who’ve had difficulty in those areas during the pandemic.
Other solutions include offering summer school programming tailored for the elementary, middle school and high school levels. District 200 is able to hire additional staff through federal grant dollars to meet these needs.
