Cross Country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain. Our courses are 1.5-2 miles long, may include surfaces of grass, pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills. It is both an individual and a team sport; runners are judged on individual times and a points scoring method for teams. Both boys and girls compete in cross country, which takes place during the fall and can include weather conditions of rain, sleet, snow or hail, and a wide range of temperatures.

The Home meet location for both Northwood MS and Creekside MS is Emricson Park, located at 1313 Kishwaukee Valley Road in Woodstock (entrances on both Kishwaukee Valley Road, and South Street).
