Detailed scholarship information is now contained in SchooLinksGo to your wcusd200.org bookmarks and choose the SchooLinks log-in, then go to Finances (tab on left side of page) > Scholarship Matching.
If you are looking for additional scholarship opportunities, please take a look at the following sites which we mention in our Counseling Curriculum:Note: Most colleges offer their own scholarships as well. Unfortunately, we don't have space to post all of those, but students can find that information on their college's website.
Many D200 students choose to continue their studies at McHenry County College. Those students and families will find more MCC information at these links:
Financial Aid & the FAFSA
-
To receive a diploma from an Illinois public high school, all graduating students are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) or, if applicable, the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.
- The FAFSA and Alternative Application are both available starting Oct. 1 of the calendar year before you plan to go to school (i.e. Oct. 1, 2023 for students planning to attend in Fall 2024).
- If you are not eligible for the FAFSA, you may still be able to earn aid (money to pay for education after high school), by completing the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.
- A few students may choose to opt out of the FAFSA and the Alternative Application, in which case the student will need to complete the FAFSA Non-Participation form.
The FAFSA isn’t just for associate’s or bachelor’s degree programs. Students can receive need-based Pell grants, federal student loans, and other federal student aid for technical, trade, and vocational programs at community colleges and at many other schools and training programs.
