High School teams from around the county attended the second annual VEX Robotics Competition at McHenry County College on Friday, March 17. Included among the teams was Woodstock North High School. WNHS Project Lead the Way instructor Stephen Buchs said, “It is great to see what the students come up with. The students this year made huge improvements from last year, and students were already trying to plan for next year’s competition before we left MCC!”
In the VEX Competitions, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, teams of students are challenged to design and build a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering competition. Concepts learned in STEM classrooms (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) are integrated and students develop their teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels.
